27 January 2009

This site has been designed with additional features to aid accessibility.

Access Keys

Many browsers support the use of Access Keys. The access key assignments on this web site follow the e-Government Interoperability Framework (e-GIF) recommendations:

To use the Access Keys; on a PC hold the ALT button, on a MAC hold the Ctrl button and press:

    N = Skip to Main Navigation

    S = Skip to Content

    0 = Accessibility Information

    1 = Home Page

    3 = Site Map

    4 = Search

    6 = Help

    9 = Contact Us

    L = Latest News

    E = Equality

    H = Health, Safety and Environment

    M = Members Area

    X = Log Out of Members Area

    T = Top of page

If using Internet Explorer you then need to press Enter to go to the required page.

Please note that Access Keys are not supported by Opera or below version 4 or 5 of other web browsers.

Navigation

You can navigate to other links using the TAB button, then pressing Enter.

Text Size, Fonts and Colours

Most Web browsers allow you to override the font styles, sizes and colours to give a plain layout view, that:

  • makes text black on a white background (or however your browser is set),
  • uses a style sheet created or by you or selected from a list of options,
  • puts all the information in one column (called "linearised"), or
  • leaves content images and removes background images.

In Internet Explorer select the "Tools" option from the main menu bar, then choose "Internet options..." click on the "General" tab, click on the button marked "Accessibility" and select the option you want to change.

In most other Browsers select the "Edit" menu from the main menu bar, then choose "Preferences" and select the option you want to change.
