CWU TV web site

CWU TV ended as a TV programme in March 2010 due predominantly to the union's drive to cut costs. As a result head office has been developing a use of CWUTV. In the last 12 months over 60,000 videos per month have been watched or part watched by the site users.

The main CWUTV menu has been split into several different channels - providing easy access for viewers to find their preferred content.

  • CWU News - the monthly news review with breaking news stories that supplement the main news pages with short videos.
  • CWU Matters - a variety of in-depth interviews of the key issues affecting the CWU.
  • CWU Uncovered - a strand of short videos covering stories that don't always make the Voice or the main news videos.
  • CWUTUBE - a home for video normally found on YouTube and will provide members with a platform for their own voices.
  • CWU360 - supports Voice stories and is linked to the magazine publication cycle.

In conjunction with the web hosting providers a new platform is being used to host CWU TV that delivers video content by variable bit rate streaming. This will radically improve loading issues experienced on some computers.
