CWU Annual Conference takes place for five days each year in either May or June and is the parliament of the Union.
Two of the days are spent discussing issues that are appropriate to the whole Union, conference is then divided into sectional and industrial groupings for the remaining three days. All CWU members are entitled to attend Conference. Visitors, who are members of the union, may gain admission to the observers area by showing their membership card.
The 2013 CWU Annual Conference will take place on 21 – 25 April 2013 at the Bournemouth International Centre, Bournemouth.
Deputy General Secretary Telecoms (DGST) Andy Kerr introduced Bill Murphy, MD Next Generation Access, BT.
Grace Mitchell introduced Natalie Jacottet, CWU Head of Research, who gave a presentation based on the findings of the online member survey conducted in April 2012.
Conference Chair, Beryl Shepherd, referred to the "ground breaking" tasks undertaken in 2011 as part of the process of evolution and self-determination for the T&FSE. She also noted there were a number of "new faces" in what she described as a "diverse gathering".
Tony Kearns, Senior Deputy General Secretary (SDGS), briefly reviewed the CWU annual accounts for 2011-2012.
National President Jane Loftus welcomed delegates to the General Conference and invited them to stand for a minutes silence in respect of members of who had passed away in the preceding year.

The 2012 CWU Annual Conference took place on 22 – 26 April 2012 at the Bournemouth International Centre, Bournemouth.
Each of the CWU Advisory Committees holds an annual conference.
