The excessively heightened drive on productivity resulting in increased anxiety and stress amongst members has previously been raised at the highest management levels in Openreach. A joint working group has now been set up to examine the concerns arising from the validity and interpretation of iPOP data.
One of the fundamental principles agreed with Openreach is that, whilst contractual change will occur, no changes to attendance will be proposed or implemented where there is no current business rationale.
During the SDT negotiations, the CWU secured the commitment that if savings in Openreach’s cost base of 17.5% were achieved by April 2011, then Openreach will seriously review all third party sourcing and see whether it can be done in-house.
The ILM equipment that was used in the original Solent trial was not used for the subsequent national roll out. It has therefore been recognised that there is a need to conduct a risk assessment on the revised equipment as a matter of priority.
The Executive team has continued to press Openreach on the vexed subject of performance management.
